Projects

The focus of our projects in recent years has been set on the development of laser-based gas spectrometers, which is covered holistically by our expertise. We are also involved in research projects. We develop modules for external measuring systems, such as filter photometers for analysing liquid samples, potentiostats with ion-selective electrodes for electrochemistry or electronics to support analysis in fluorescence microscopy.

Most of our developments are conducted for customers in the oil and gas industry, medical technology, research and (process) industry. If capacity is available, we also develop devices ourselves for which we have identified a gap in the market. We market these developments via sales partnerships or offer them to potential customers in the respective field as a complete development.

Deep sea methane sensor

Methane detection in the deep sea is a demanding application that requires a robust, durable and calibration-free measuring system. Using laser-based absorption spectroscopy, an OEM module was realised that meets the strict requirements of the oil and gas industry and can detect the lowest methane concentrations with high precision under extreme conditions. One of the greatest challenges was the realisation of a measuring volume in the microlitre range in order to achieve a high response time of the system. Our measuring module has made a decisive contribution to our customer’s position as world market leader in the field of underwater methane monitoring and leak detection.

Energy self-sufficient methane measuring system AMS

The AMS is a laser-based measuring device for monitoring methane in remote and inaccessible locations. The measuring device is able to reliably detect the smallest differences in concentration in the ppm range, making it possible to use it for stationary or drone-based leak detection, for example. The data can be transmitted in real time and easily analyzed using a mobile radio connection. A special focus was placed on low energy requirements, so that the module can be operated energy self-sufficiently without additional infrastructure using a solar cell and an internally developed battery management system. Isotope-selective CO2 analysis

With the A2D and the 13CORLab, two devices were developed that analyze metabolic processes in organs using isotope-selective CO2 measurement. These instruments were developed in coordination with clinical partners in transplant surgery and represent a milestone in the non-invasive qualification of organs. The instrument is a standalone tabletop device that is easily coupled to established perfusion  Following the placement of the measuring instruments in leading clinics in Europe and the USA, we are pleased that the first publications have now been published. Filter photometer

A compact and highly integrated measuring module has been developed for the photometric analysis of liquid samples. It enables absorption measurements in the UV-VIS range on a temperature-controlled flow-through cuvette in a very small space. It also provides graphic and data interfaces for integration into a powerful product for the end user. Due to the LED technology used, the device is extremely durable and low-maintenance and can therefore contribute to medical care in emerging countries. Following successful development validation, the device was manufactured in series by us, making it a showcase project for holistic device development with subsequent series production at Argos.

EU research project: VOCORDER

The EU-funded VOCORDER project (Horizon No. 101115442) is developing a measuring device for breath gas analysis that detects trace gas concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in breath and uses an AI algorithm to contribute to the early detection of diseases. As an expert in holistic measuring device development, Argos Messtechnik is contributing to the overall integration of the device and coordinating the technical system development of the 12 international partners.

Gas chromatograph

The entire control and evaluation electronics were developed for a market leader in gas chromatography, the embedded software was written and integrated and the pressure-resistant Ex housing was designed. All prototypes of the circuit boards were built and tested at Argos and test programs were provided for series production.

We are a reliable partner for holistic device development from concept to series production. Our expertise lies in electronics, software and optics development. In recent years, we have successfully implemented a large number of projects for customers in the oil and gas industry, medical technology and research. We have developed standalone devices, OEM measurement modules and (partial) electronics.

We also take care of project organization and coordination as well as mechanical design and production, enabling us to deliver the entire development process from prototype to series production from a single source.

A project always begins with an introductory meeting in which we discuss the requirements and ideas. During the meeting, we usually develop an initial idea of how the project can be implemented. We then draw up a project plan, define important milestones and prepare a cost estimate. These administrative steps are usually completed after 3-4 weeks. We work very dynamically and have a regular exchange with our customers so that they are always informed about the current progress of the project.

By the way: We don’t really have any “typical projects” – due to the large number of different industries, our customers’ requirements are usually very specific, so there is no standard solution.
